WHAT IS THE BAK PAK PROGRAM?
Packs full of kid friendly, shelf stable food are sent home on Fridays with kids who may be in need of extra food for the weekend. Ala Carte items are also made available to school counselors for student use during the school day. We distribute over 1000 packs of food per school year.
WHO ASSEMBLES THE PACKS AND WHERE?
A group of volunteers meet weekly to shop, load packs with food and then distribute them to the schools. The Pinedale Community Church sponsors the program by providing food storage and space for pack assembly each week.
WHERE DO THE PACKS AND FOOD COME FROM?
Some packs are donated and some have been purchased through a Wyoming Hunger Iniative grant award. Kids return packs each week to be refilled. Food is purchased locally, and some businesses regularly donate food items.
HOW IS THE PROGRAM FUNDED?
All local donations! Some large, from generous local businesses, individuals, and service organizations; and some small, from people like you! Foundation 23 has become a great advocate for the cause!
HOW CAN I HELP?
Donate some $$ so we can continue to maintain an inventory of non-perishable, easy to prepare food items along with fresh snacks for kids. We buy specific foods in bulk, so financial donations are the best!
